Just about a half mile east of County Road 32 on Boothe Road in Fairhope is a charming little place that offers every diner a delicious experience.

Open since May 2024, this slightly out-of-the-way place is worth the drive: from its friendly, casually attired staff to its cooks, it’s always humming with activity around lunchtime (and, on most weekdays, dinnertime).

The waitstaff greets guests as they arrive through the wooden doors, and instantly people seem to feel more like a friend than a customer. The staff members wear t-shirts in multiple hues that make diners smile as they read “Clovis Café” on the front and the back, “You had me at Swamp Soup.”

All dishes are made when ordered, with the possible exception of Swamp Soup and their daily special (which can be as varied as their savory meatloaf or Philly Cheesesteak).

How did owners Tania Cooper and Faye Klumpp come up with the name? “Clovis is the name of Faye’s French bulldog,” Cooper says with a laugh.

Their desserts include one they call “Simply Supreme Cheesecake,” which patrons can purchase by the slice or by a 9-inch, 12-cut round to take home. Their desserts, specials, and sides vary daily; these are posted on their Facebook page.

They cater and offer gluten-free, vegetarian, and low-sugar options. Come by for lunch or dinner, and you’ll enjoy a warm and friendly family dining experience!
