It had been a pretty big night.  With the sun finally shining, we dusted ourselves off and flip-flopped our way into Playa at Sportsman Marina in Orange Beach. It was the first sunny day we had experienced in a month of Sundays, literally, and chose to sit on the porch and watch the boats go by.

Four Bloody Mary’s (three spicy) and the freshest quac and chips you can imagine because… you make it yourself at the table! Two perfect avocados are presented with a masher tool, fresh lemons, and limes, chopped onion, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. A turn of salt and pepper and we happily munched through the menu options.

We all ordered from the brunch menu. No bad choices and ample servings.  I never pass on Huevos Rancheros.  This set-up had slow simmered black beans covering the tortillas, 2 perfect over easy eggs, pickled onions, avocado, cotija cheese, and a bit of salsa. Stuffed!

Others order the Carnitas Breakfast, with two eggs made to order over braised pork and grits with three tortillas on the side. and Avocado Toast made with crispy Cuban bread. We did not need the French fries but ate them all anyway.

The atmosphere is refreshingly simple and casual classy.  I love the mural with the soft sunset colors and a dusty beach vibe.  Good choice. We left happy and fulfilled, a little more than we had planned. Nap time.
