Did you know that Mobile’s Virginia’s Health Foods and Fairhope Health Foods also have a sister restaurant, the Sunflower Cafe, adjacent to both store locations? The health food stores feature numerous organic, vegan, and non-gmo products, including vitamins and supplements, and we have always found their staff knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to answer questions.
With Spring lunch options so abundant along Scenic 98 and Fairhope Arts and Crafts in full swing, Gina Lanaux suggested we take advantage of something near home and pop into the Sunflower Cafe adjacent to the Fairhope Health Food Store. Open for lunch, they offer a healthy variety of sandwiches, soups, appetizers, and specials, often using locally sourced ingredients. The food is fresh, tasty, and healthy!
After much deliberation, I ordered the Greek Veggie Wrap with marinated veggies, feta cheese, baba ghanoush, olive tapenade, and chopped veggies. All the flavors worked well with their house Greek vinaigrette. The Turkey Reuben got rave reviews from Zeb…particularly the fresh-baked focaccia bread. He started off with a cup of tomato bisque that he savored with “yumms “ as he sipped. Gina was happy with the Thai Wrap with chicken and spicy peanut sauce, and she especially enjoyed the cold orzo salad on the side.
We left pleasantly pleased and satisfied. Check it out! Mobile’s Sunflower Cafe is located in the Midtown Shopping Center next to Virginia’s Health Food store. Fresh, casual lunch is open 7 days a week in Fairhope and closed on Sundays in Mobile.
