Jay Chalmers was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida and enjoyed all the curiosity and culture that growing up in a college town fostered. After graduating from Florida State University and attending the Savannah College of Art and Design to study film production, Jay spent the next 18 years working in the television industry across Florida in cities like Gainesville, Jacksonville, Orlando, and West Palm Beach.

His final stop in his TV career was as the Marketing Director at WKRG News 5 in Mobile. Jay and his wife moved to Fairhope and fell in love with the Gulf Coast, buying their first home and having two sons. Only after moving to Baldwin County did his wife find out that her great, great, great grandfather settled in Barnwell in 1839! Jay enjoys learning about history, exploring new places and experiences (especially with his family), great food, good drinks and excellent conversation. He is excited to share his love and curiosity for the Gulf Coast with the Scenic 98 Coastal community.
