At this time of Thanksgiving, we encourage you to remember the organizations in the Scenic 98 Coastal communities that are making a difference and serve as the glue that holds our towns and neighborhoods together.

There are so many good things going on behind the scenes to improve the quality of life in our community. Let’s seek them out and offer our help whenever and wherever possible.  One organization in Baldwin County is Ecumenical Ministries, Inc.

Through two food banks on the Eastern Shore and in South Baldwin, they help meet the urgent needs of individuals and families during times of extreme financial hardship with assistance with food, rent, medical care, transportation, and other services, such as home repair, meals on wheels, and prescription assistance.

Ecumenical Ministries has been around for more than 50 years and has staff that will come to church-based organizations to train leaders to address practical issues in underserved neighborhoods. They operate Emmy’s Thrift Shop which helps support vital social service programs. Each holiday season, they lead an annual community effort to assist families, children, and elderly people in need called Christmas Sharing.

The good they are doing is real and we thank all the staff, volunteers, and especially the donors! This video is excellent and I encourage you to watch it.

Happy Thanksgiving!
