The Pearl & Horn is another great restaurant in Pensacola. This weekend, we did a bit of damage at the Palafox Market Saturday morning, before putting our name on the list for lunch at a new restaurant from the folks at George’s Bistro & Bar. Chef George and his wife, Luba, gave the community something special when they opened George’s Bistro & Bar in uptown Pensacola. Pearl & Horn is their newest creation that highlights their cultural food experience and brings the area something to talk about.
First, get your name on the list. Inside seating is limited in the back corner of the Food Court on Palafox and Main. You can order take-out and sit in the covered open-air outside food court if you don’t want to wait for a seat inside. The four of us sat at the bar and each ordered something different after sharing the crispy, delicious calamari, with the accompanying sauces. Avocado tartine, Oysters Rockefeller Benedict, Warm Lobster Roll with rosemary waffle fries, and Shrimp Saffron Aioli BLT rounded out our order. The coleslaw is a delightful flavor combination of kale, wasabi, and tricolor slaw. Plenty of rosemary waffle fries were on each plate. Next time, we will give the truffle fries a try.
We learned about the local oyster farms where Pearl & Horn sources their oysters shucked straight from the shells, such as Murder Point and Grayson Bay, and how the oyster’s flavor changes with the tides. We will come back for a raw dozen or two soon! Our hot and steamy day worked out well with several new food experiences. Pearl & Horn has a fun atmosphere, attentive staff, and a good take on local seafood. Lobster rolls done right!
