When Sean’s Prime Dining opened last year, we went with friends to check it out. We had a wonderful evening dinner, and I’ve been back several times for lunch and have never been disappointed. Chef Sean Travis has many years of experience in fine dining and combines elements of French, Caribbean, and Asian cuisine in his offerings.

Last Sunday, my cousin called and said he and his wife were checking on their beach house in Gulf Shores and wanted to go to lunch in Fairhope on their way back home. We chose to try out the Sunday brunch at Sean’s and were lucky to find a high-top table for four without a wait.

Sean’s Prime Dining is open for brunch on Sundays from 10 AM until 2 PM. We arrived around 1:00 pm, and we were hungry. We ordered Bloody Marys while we perused the menu. They were just right. Linda and I ordered Sean’s Prime Benedict with a side order of sausage to share. It’s served with blue crab cake with lobster, wilted spinach-arugula, and grilled red and yellow tomato, finished with two poached eggs, hollandaise, and dusted with old bay. We both ordered the blue crab cake with lobster, wilted spinach-arugula, and grilled red and yellow tomato, finished with two poached eggs, hollandaise, and dusted with old bay. It was excellent!

Ginger, my cousin’s wife, had the Classic Eggs Benedict with two poached eggs and Canadian bacon topped with hollandaise sauce. She loved it. Each dish was served with Cajun home fries and a fruit medley. Cousin Doug had the Creamy Smoked Gouda Grits finished with habanero honey and topped with grilled fresh Gulf shrimp.

Sean’s has a warm atmosphere best described as upscale yet casual. The service was excellent, the food delicious, and Chef Travis came by to say hello as we were leaving. “My goal is to make your stomach happy,” he says. And he did!
